Once the carpet is gone
The floor is laid bare,
As the windows are blown
And the heavy sunlight glares
When the pipes are smashed
And the water flows to waste,
As the concrete is broken
And the steel can't be salvaged
Then you begin to wonder
Wasn't this shelter
to be forever
Built like a rock, not paper
As you begin to question
this foundation ground to dust
Was that all it was
Love relegated to lust
Life is short,
so rebuild your heart,
But only once you've learnt the art
of falling apart..
